Accessing iSeries Database using SQL

Purpose
This course provides an introduction to the SQL language and applies to the entire DB2

Families.

Structured Query Language (SQL) is a standardized language for defining and

manipulating data in a relational database. These course describe the iSeries specific

implementation of the SQL using DB2 for OS/400 database ( in unit 0 and unit 9 ) and

the others unit are applicable also to others DB2 environment for z/OS, VM/VSE, iSeries, Linux, UNIX, and Windows

 

Objectives COURSE TIME
On completion of this course, you should be able to:

 

§  Code SQL statements to retrieve data from a DB2 table,

including the SELECT, FROM, WHERE, GROUP BY, HAVING and ORDER BY clauses

§  Code inner Joins, including joining a table to itself

§  Use SQL arithmetic operations

§  Use scalar and column functions Use UNION and UNION ALL

§  INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE rows

§  Code simple CREATE TABLE and CREATE VIEW statements

§  Describe the major SQL’s part supported for OS/400.

§  Using Interactive SQL on OS/400

§  Understand the requirements of using Embedded SQL in OS/400

§  Code, compile and execute Embedded SQL in OS/400.

Time: 9 am – 4 pm
